top

Replacing a copper chimney top.

Only after a few years this copper top was busted! Can you tell why? They used more caulk than copper.
You can see on the details nothing was made correctly... Except the invoice!
The concrete is gone, too... like I said, only after a few years!
Old copper chimney cap

After we cleaned and put up new concrete, installed some serious subsurface for the new top.
Wood work

Installed the copper panels and connected the flue directly to the copper. NO CAULK!
Copper works

Installed the custom made, stainless steel frame that will support the copper cladding.
New copper chimney cap
This chimney will last forever... at least forever. Maybe longer than that.

Same house, same problem...probably the same company!
The caulk did not last very long to keep the house water tight.
It would have been better if the old flashing on the round column had never been installed at all.
Old flashing

So, I fixed the caulk problem with: Knowledge instead of caulk!
